Paleochora is a seaside town on the southwestern coast of Crete, 70 km from Chania. It is built on a peninsula between two picturesque bays, surrounded by imposing mountains with low vegetation that offers protection from the seasonal north winds. The area stands out for its natural beauty, idyllic atmosphere, and Venetian castle.
Has two bays: the western one with the impressive organized beach Pachia Ammos and the eastern one with pebbles and rocks.
These landscapes offer alternative options for swimming and other water activities, such as surfing, water skiing, underwater fishing, jet skiing, and sailing. In addition, many short boat trips to nearby areas are offered, and the area is also an ideal spot for hiking via the E4 and E1 trails.
In the evenings, the coastal roads turn into pedestrian streets where one can enjoy food and coffee by the sea. Paleochora maintains an authentic Cretan atmosphere with hospitality and without the pressure of mass tourism, making it ideal for a peaceful and human holiday.
The climate is perfect from the beginning of May to the end of October, with the sea temperature being pleasant for swimming.
